Dish Alignment Services
A satellite dish has to be aimed within roughly 1° of perfect to deliver full signal to every channel. Time, weather and the occasional bump from a ladder or wind gust gradually drift the alignment. Our dish-alignment service brings it back to spec.
What Usually Causes This Problem
Most cases trace back to one of the following root causes. Our technicians diagnose with a signal meter and the right diagnostic tools on every callout.
Wind and storm drift
Strong winds and hail impact gradually rotate dishes off-target. Properly tightened brackets resist this longer, but no install is forever-perfect.
LNB skew error
The LNB has a skew angle (around 30° west of vertical in Gauteng) that must be set correctly. Wrong skew loses HD transponders first.
Wall or roof settling
Older homes settle slightly over decades. A 1° shift in the mounting wall translates directly to a 1° shift in dish aim.
Tree growth
Mature trees grow taller and wider over years, eventually obstructing the line-of-sight to IS-20. Realignment alone cannot fix this — the dish may need relocation.
Original install drift
Some DIY or rush-job installations are aligned with a phone app or by eye. These work initially but lose margin within months.
Adjacent construction
Building work, new walls and added storeys on neighbouring properties can introduce reflections that confuse signal quality readings.
