If you have searched this before and tried *111*501#, you probably got an error. That code stopped working — users began reporting it dead around late 2023 — and Vodacom has not published a replacement on its own site.
So rather than repeat a code that fails, here is what actually works, plus the Vodacom codes that are current and confirmed.
Method 1: Send a CallMe to another phone (fastest)
Vodacom's Please Call Me service is branded CallMe, and it is the quickest way to reveal your number.
- Dial *140*[the other person's number]# and press call.
- Their phone receives a free text containing your number.
- Read it off their screen.
It is free and needs no airtime. Details in our guide to sending a Please Call Me on Vodacom.
Method 2: Ring any phone with caller ID
Call someone, or your own second handset, and read the number off the screen. One ring is enough — the missed-call log keeps it.
Method 3: My Vodacom or VodaPay
- Open VodaPay (Vodacom's app) or the My Vodacom self-service section on vodacom.co.za.
- Sign in with the SIM you want to identify — on mobile data the line is usually detected automatically.
- Your number appears on the account screen.
Method 4: Your handset's SIM status screen
| Device | Where to look |
|---|---|
| iPhone | Settings › General › About › the SIM / Network entry |
| Samsung | Settings › About phone › Status information › SIM card status |
| Other Android | Settings › About phone › SIM status |
Reliable when populated, blank on some transferred or older SIMs.
Method 5: Vodacom customer care — 135
Dial 135 from your Vodacom line. Note that the old 111 customer care number was retired, along with 100 for recharges and 121 for voicemail. If a guide still tells you to dial 111, it is out of date.

Codes that no longer work
- *111*501# — the old check-your-number code. Reported dead since around December 2023, with no official replacement published.
- 111 — old customer care, replaced by 135.
- 100 / *100# — old recharge and balance, replaced by 136 / *136#.
- 121 — old voicemail, replaced by 132.
A word on *#06#
*#06# gives your IMEI — the handset's identifier — not your phone number and not your SIM number. It returns the same value whichever SIM is inserted.
RICA in 2026
Enforcement tightened from 1 July 2026, with penalties of up to R5 million or 10 years' imprisonment for non-compliance. Customer care will not discuss a line that is not properly registered in your name, so keep second and data SIMs RICA'd.
